The National Drought Mitigation Center, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management
Agency, and the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition teamed up on August 10, 2009, in Kearney,
Nebraska, to sponsor a workshop on new drought-related tools:
- Vegetation Drought Response Index (VegDRI)
- Vegetation Outlook (VegOut)
- Drought Planning Guide for Livestock and Forage Producers

The NDMC presented training on drought monitoring in Bamako, Mali, September 14-17, at a workshop sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization. Participants included more than 20 officials working for the meteorological service, in water resources, the agricultural ministry, and in rural development. Translators speaking English and French sat in a booth on one side of the room. |
