About Shawna
Shawna Richter-Ryerson joined the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the National Drought Mitigation Center and the Nebraska State Climate Office as the communication associate in March 2016. Her primary focus will be on sharing and distributing news from within the NDMC with the public through the website and our newsletter, DroughtScape. Shawna brings 11 years of writing, editing and graphic design experience to her new role. She previously worked in newspapers at The Hawk Eye in Burlington, Iowa, and the Lincoln Journal Star, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Education:
- B.A. in 2004 in journalism from Western Illinois University, with minors in creative writing and marketing
- B.A. in 2010 in graphic design from University of Iowa
