Drought Monitoring in the U.S.

Drought monitoring resources at a national scale are available from a variety of agencies and organizations. The NDMC has compiled an extensive set of resources related to drought indicators, remote sensing, forecasts & advisories, water resources, and data. Additional information can be found on the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) web portal.

Featured Monitoring Tools

State and Local Monitoring

State and local drought monitoring information is available from Regional Climate Centers, volunteer networks such as the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network,and various state agencies. The NDMC has compiled a wealth of state and local drought monitoring information and resources from these and other sources.

International Early Warning

The international drought community produces global-scale and country-specific drought monitoring tools and information. The NDMC has collected resources related to international drought indicators, remote sensing, forecasts and advisories, water resources, and data.
