Dry Horizons: Solvers log first scores in the Sub-Seasonal Climate Forecast Rodeo

May 17, 2017

The May edition of Dry Horizons has been released. In this edition, we highlight a forecast competition by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The Forecast Rodeo is a year-long competition, focused on western U.S. temperature and precipitation forecasting. Solvers compete in real time against other teams as well as official forecasts from NOAA. And they are eligible to win big prizes.

Also in this edition:

  • Lessons on drought from a ranching expert;
  • Insights from farmers on the 2016 drought that struck New York; and
  • A survey shows the value in climate webinars and summaries.
