Dry Horizons: Wildfires highlight need for this resource

With wildfires raging across California, the October edition of Dry Horizons featured a resource examined the complex relationship between drought and wildfires. “Wildfire and Drought: Impacts on Wildfire Planning Behavior and Effects” provides a history of wildfire in the West, an examination of wildfire in the West; an examination of drought impacts related to wildfires; challenges and opportunities to planning for wildfires related to drought; and recommendations for understanding and addressing impacts of drought on wildfire.

Also in the edition:

·         The National Environmental Education Foundation free online course “Dealing with Drought: Science, Impacts and Strategies to Save Water.”

·         Cape Town, South Africa, website offers immediate water supply monitoring information.

·         Omaha, Nebraska, plants drought tolerant trees.
