About Suzanne

Suzanne Plass joined the National Drought Mitigation Center in July 2017 as a communications specialist. She previously taught writing and second language development classes in UNL's Programs in English as a Second Language and in the Families Learning in Partnership English literacy collaboration between Southeast Community College and Lincoln Public Schools. Prior to teaching in Nebraska Suzanne directed outreach and education programs for the Minnesota State Office of the National Audubon Society, and was a program consultant for Audubon's Upper Mississippi River Campaign. Suzanne also has government sector experience, having worked as a policy analyst for the Ramsey County Environmental Health Section and for the Minnesota State Planning Agency. Suzanne's soil and water conservation management background includes formal study of the impact of multinational corporations on land use in Central America, and informal experiential learning that included installation and maintenance of drip irrigation lines in a kibbutz avocado orchard.
