The Drought-Smart Indigenous Agriculture Project held continued discussions with producers and staff at Santa Ana Pueblo on March 6 & 7, 2025. The National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC) and the Santa Ana Pueblo facilitated two sessions with Santa Ana staff and producers. Both sessions focused on reviewing and understanding the soil test lab results that had been taken and analyzed in 2024 and brainstorming projects and next steps to improve soil health and drought resiliency. Staff from the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) attended to speak to producers about building relationships with their soil and funding options to support producers with potential projects. These sessions were meant to be more conversational and less lecture-based, with the goal of giving space for everyone to ask questions, make suggestions, and work together. Approximately 25 individuals attended one or both sessions at the Santa Ana Wellness Center.
